Southside Park’s Universal Universe playground located in Sacramento was one of Northern California’s first fully accessible playgrounds -allowing kids of all abilities and their parents to enjoy safe and fun-filled play days.

Recent efforts to restore and renovate the playground include the redesign of its signage. In May 2024, I was asked to design new signage that would allow young people to participate in the creation of the final designs.

Each planet and star in my design will be created by children and young adults who represent the diverse community the playground seeks to serve. It is a great joy to facilitate the creative efforts of these talented young artists!
